GUWAHATI: A new local taxi service by the name of AN2 Cab has launched its services in the city of Guwahati on Friday, December 16.

Retired Commissioner Secretary to the Government of Assam, Biren Chandra Phukan flagged off this new taxi service today as the chief guest. The launch event was organised in the Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College Auditorium located on Panjabari Road in Guwahati.

Speaking at the event, the chief guest mentioned that a local player in this sector will not only benefit the public but also has immense opportunities for growth. "This service will benefit the common people in the coming days in Guwahati city which is becoming a growing population and commercial hub," he added.

The company has announced that it has started the service in three vehicle segments as a part of the launch. The first will be the autorickshaw segment, the second is the economy segment and the third is called the comfort segment. They also aim to start another segment named VIP in the near future.

On asked about the USP, the brand representative mentioned that they are trying to provide taxi services at cheap prices at a faster rate of service when compared to the existing players. He also mentioned that the home-grown brand has 2000 drivers associated with them as of the day of launch and many more will eventually join after the services start rolling out.

Customers can select and book their services from the applications available on the Play Store for android devices and Apple Store for Apple devices. It has been mentioned that online fare payment will be available for all the services of AN2 Cab. As of now, the service is available only in the city of Guwahati.

If run successfully, this new service can help a large number of commuters as well as taxi drivers in the region. While the customers often complain about being charged additional amounts by drivers and inacceptance of online modes of payment, the drivers are unhappy with the payments given by the multinational companies.
